Something accomplished

This weekend was a productive one between the rain storms. Saturday morning we bought some trees for our yard. We will be getting those in the next couple of days weather permitting. Saturday's soccer games were canceled so after family nap time we headed outside to put the basketball hoop together. While the kids were playing basketball we pruned the apple tree, it hadn't been done for years. We also got the garage swept out. Now if only it would dry out enough to mow the lawn. Sunday after church and Dunkin Donuts we headed home to get ready for the soccer games, only to find out that they had been postponed for 1 1/2 hours. Mark cut up some branches while I weeded the flower bed and worked in the house. After the games we headed to Chuck E. Cheese. The place was packed but the kids had a great time.

Kid Brags and Recaps:
Valynn's team had 6 players yesterday so she played the whole game. She likes to play defense so she played that position most of the game. Her team won by a couple of goals. She has about 5 weeks left of school.

Mason played against two of the neighbor boys yesterday. His team won as well and Mason scored three goals. The other team even had more players (preschool they let all the kids on the field instead of making some stand on the sidelines). Mason has 3 weeks of preschool left. We will be signing him up for Kindergarten in the next couple of weeks.

Kyra surprised me today by correctly identifying 16 out of 26 letters of the alphabet. I had resigned myself to the fact that she would be starting preschool not able to recognize her letters but I guess I was wrong, she'll know her letter by August. It also seems that her and Matthew (the neighbor boy her age) can't get enough of playing with each other, one can't be outside with out the other asking to go out and play.

Kyleigh wasn't all that impressed with Chuck E. Cheese, she took a nap. It seems that Collin (Matthew's brother who is 3 weeks older than Kyleigh) and Kyleigh like to teach each other new things. After a recent visit Kyleigh saw Collin pull himself to standing so now Kyleigh thinks she should stand. Kyleigh taught Collin how to talk. Collin wouldn't make much for sounds but after a few minutes with Kyleigh babbling his ear off, he now won't stop.

Kyleigh is 8 months

Wow, who can believe how fast time flies by. Kyleigh is busy learning new things everyday. She has mama and dada down pat. She will also let out a string of gibberish because she has a voice just like the others. She gets so excited when she see one of her siblings. She can roll herself to where she wants to go. If she's sitting she can scoot herself around. She likes to stand up and can do it by herself if placed next to the couch. The last two weeks she has decided that she likes food. She will eat anything you put in front of her. She prefers to feed herself but will eat from a spoon as well.

This picture is of the kids showing Kyleigh the toad that they found in yard.

Score!!

Finally a soccer game. Mason scored a goal on Saturday and Valynn had some good blocks when she played goalie. The kids had fun playing and after their games we hurried home to have supper with some friends.

Sunday's soccer games were canceled because of the rain. We went into town for supper and then got the kids their present from the Easter Bunny, a basketball hoop. Now hopefully we'll get some nice weather so we can play outside. We were able to get a few things done outside before the rain came on Sunday, Mark tilled the garden and planted grass seed around his garage. On Friday I weeded the strawberries and blueberries and some of my flower garden. We hope to get the garden in soon, if only the weather will cooperate. Doesn't Kyra look angelic when she naps? You can also see how much Kyleigh enjoyed the soccer games. We're experiencing some wacky weather today, we will get rain for a few minutes, then sunshine, then it hailed for a few minutes, and then the sun came out, then it hailed again for a few minutes. I guess we'll see what the rest of the day brings. Have a good week.

Look at me mom!

We met Paige, Adam, Ty, Grandma, and Grandpa in Sioux Falls for the Easter weekend. The kids had a great time at the water park in the hotel. Valynn worked on her swimming skills and went down the big waterslide on her own, multiple times. Mason who last year wouldn't go down the kiddie slide, not only conquered those this weekend but also went down the big slide by himself. Kyra enjoyed walking laps around the kiddie area. Kyleigh liked splashing in the water as she set on the steps. The three older kids also liked the hot tub. The two waterslide pictures are of Mason (red life jacket) and Valynn who is being caught by Mark.

The Easter Bunny found the kids yesterday. They had fun going on a scavenger hunt to all three hotel rooms. The Easter Bunny gave mom and dad some money to buy them a basketball hoop. The kids had a great time and wanted to stay longer but we had to get back. Today is the last day of Spring Break so tomorrow it's back to the routine.

An update on Kyleigh's ears. Thursday when we went back to the doctor her left ear had cleared up but the right ear was still infected but better. She received another shot of antibiotics and if everything looks good we don't have to go back. This weekend she was still pulling on her ear so I might be taking her back if that continues.

I had to share this funny story. The kids watched a Veggie Tales movie on the way home, "Gideon, the Tuba". Anyway at the end where they talk about the message Larry the Cucumber says "The only thing I knew about Gideon was that he put the bibles in the hotel room". Valynn goes, Me too. I guess she's looked at the bible in the hotel rooms close enough to know that the Gideon's place them there.

It's almost 8:00 and I still have four sleeping children so I should try to accomplish something before they wake up. We were going to go to Wildlife today but it's supposed to rain all day so I guess we'll have to settle for cleaning house. Have a good week all.

Easter Eggs

Before we left for vacation the kids decorated Easter Eggs. As always they had fun and made some pretty cool eggs.

Canceled again

Soccer was canceled again this weekend otherwise I would have pictures of Valynn and Mason. We woke up this morning to snow, about an inch. Valynn and Mason are on Spring Break this week, on Thursday we leave for South Dakota to meet up with my family for the weekend. Valynn got to read in church yesterday, she was so excited. The gospel was read like a play and different members of the congregation were given parts. Valynn was given the part of servant girl and Mark read the part of Peter. The both did a good job, we can't help but be proud of Valynn. She was given the reading that morning.

Friday night Valynn had a sleep over at the neighbors and Mason had Jordan over to p lay that night. Saturday night we had the Bowdoin's over for supper. Can you see Kyleigh sticking her tongue out in the picture with Annika? That's her latest thing, she found her tongue and it's always sticking out.

One day last week Kyra wasn't on the couch for nap time. I found her on the sleeping bags behind the couch sleeping. I'm had better get back to my muffins I'm making for the Community Sunrise Easter Service that's being held near the Lutheran Church, I said I'd bring something even if we weren't going to be there.

It's still there

Kyleigh has her follow up appointment for her ear infection and it's still there. We are going to wait until next Tuesday to see if there is any improvement. She isn't on any medication because her ear doesn't seem to be bothering her so we're hoping it's healing. If it's not looking any better by Tuesday we will be referred to an ENT (ear, nose, throat) and possibly be seen my Wednesday. The issue with this is that it seems that the ear infection isn't a recurring one, but the same one from two months ago so he's not comfortable waiting much longer. She currently weigh 15 pounds 2 oz.

Mason had his Easter party yesterday, that boy can collect eggs, he had enough candy to feed an army. Valynn has her party tomorrow. Kyra has her first gymnastics class without mom tomorrow.

Last night we had our HOA meeting, I'm secretary for another year. Otherwise it was nothing too exciting. Kyleigh was good for the ladies at MOPs yesterday and for the sitter last night. Hopefully she's good for the sitter tomorrow while I'm at Valynn's party. Tonight I got together with the neighbor ladies to make meals. I have about 12 meals in my freezer so I'm set for awhile.
