Birthday

Mark and the kids baked and decorated my birthday cake on Monday. We also celebrated Kyra's 9 month birthday at the same time (Valynn's idea). I had a heart shaped cake, 2 layers, with multicolored frosting.
Kyra had her 9 month well baby check up. She weighs 17 pounds 9 ounces (25%), and is 28.5 inches (84%). Everything looks good! I included a picture of Kyra sleeping, does she look comfortable? We didn't think so, but she must have been.

9 months

Kyra is nine months today. She's growing fast and getting around even quicker. She loves waking Valynn and Mason up in the mornings and getting a big grin on her face and really excited when she sees them. She loves to eat table food and will eat anything you put in front of her.

Look what we caught!!!

We went fishing on Friday night and we were successful. We caught 5 fish and kept 4. That meant Mark got to clean fish. Last night we ate what we caught and they were delicious. The kids are excited to go again. Saturday we spent most of the day with our friend Mark S. from North Dakota and his cousins that live nearby. We enjoy getting together with them unfortunately we only do it about once a year. It turned out to be a long day for the kids though. Sunday we went for a bike ride after church. The kids love going for bike rides and we stopped to have a picnic along the way. I also have a picture posted of Valynn and Mason showing off their new cousin, Ty, they can't wait to meet him.

Happy Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day. Mark and the kids made me breakfast. We decorated cookies in Sunday school for all of the mothers. I also had to read in church. Afterwards we went out to eat and then went and got my Mother's Day gift. Fishing equipment. We spent the afternoon fishing n the lake, unfortunately we didn't get anything but had a great time anyway. The picture of Mason, Kyra and I was taken by Valynn. I asked her to take the picture, she got tangled up in her fishing line, then decided she wanted to be a professional photographer and was trying to get Mason and Kyra to sit where she directed them, of course that didn't work and that's why the picture looks like it does.

Young Love

Valynn had her field trip to the zoo yesterday. Valynn and Jacob (her boyfriend) walked through the zoo holding hands while looking at the animals. They are so cute and funny together. After the zoo we went to the playground where Valynn and Jacob had a picnic lunch together before playing on the equipment. The were sad when it was time to go. They will go to different schools next year so we'll have to do plenty of play dates to make sure they get to see each other. This was Kyra's first trip to the zoo, she wasn't that impressed with the animals, she was more interested in all the people (there were about 5 schools touring). In the picture of Jacob and Valynn his little sister Ava is in the background. In the picture with all of the kids, Jacob's brother Ian is joining in the group hug while Mason and Kyra look on. Mason and Ian will be in preschool together next year. Last night we went to some friends for supper and watermelon martinis (they were delicious). The kids had a great time playing and weren't ready to come home even though it was past their bedtime. Today Mark helped some neighbors with their garden since we got ours planted and to finally enjoy a Saturday at home.

Swim little fish.....

We took advantage of the beautiful weather and sent the kids outside swimming yesterday. There was something in it for mom, two of the kids napped after p laying in the cold water. The kids love playing in the water and have spent the last two days in their swimsuits. Mark has been busy breaking ground for the garden. He got it tilled last night and we are now ready to plant, we're justing looking for a free night to do that.
